My Spirit Sings Mural

About the Mural

164′ x 24′ – Graphite drawing scanned and produced in Adobe Illustrator. Outputo to 4′ wallpaper.

My Spirit Sings provides for a very unique mural visual. It shows Mary centrally featured, with her hands stretched upward in praise and thanksgiving after receiving the incredible news that she would become the mother of Jesus. Surrounding her is the shape of a subtle heart as she cries out “The God of my heart is great!” To her left is her cousin, soon-to-be mother of John the Baptist, Elizabeth. Her husband, Zechariah looks on in quiet support.

A multitude of the heavenly host appear to the shepherds on the left. A throng of angels, of every color, shout praises “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to all people.”

To the right, the path leads from Bethlehem to the window of a dilapidated stable where Mary embraces her son, the son of God.

Top: Comprehensive graphite drawing on transparency. Bottom: Full multi-panel vector illustration in Illustrator.

I am blessed to have worked under Concordia Choir Director Rene Clausen for 11 years. I  hid a humble “34” in the mural in honor of  Dr. Clausen’s thirty-fourth and final concert.
